 I really enjoyed this site. it has lots of unusual features (as well as all those you expect of course), like the ability to learn your tastes as you use the site. I found that my matches improved over time as their technology figured out who I might really be interested in.
It is free to contact all members, which is very very important, and it has a busy and apparently growing database of free daters, so there was always someone new to talk to every time I logged in. I particularly liked their mail filter that allowed me to decide what kind of member could contact me.

 This site is ugly and can be hard to navigate, but it has lots of people and is free. I often found it hard to navigate the site as the design is clunky and not very user friendly, but it seems to have all the features you'd need on a singles site, and has been around a long time.
If you're outside of the UK, USA or Canada, then this could be the one for you as unusually it has a lot of foriegn members. |

Unusually this site offers the opprtunity to make friends too. I'm not sure how much this will appeal to people seeking a dating site, but if that's what you're after, take a look. |
 This site is actually uglier than plenty of fish, and that's saying something. But unlike it's ugly rival it doesn't seem to be very big. But it is genuinely free, and has the virtue of simplicity and clarity.
I noticed at the bottom of the page links for Russian dating and even Latvian singles, so if that's what you're after this may be the place for you. |
